Nomenclature of Transposable Elements in Prokaryotesl

چکیده
At the Cold Spring Harbor meeting on DNA insertions, a committee was elected to draft a set of rules for nomenclature (Campbell et al., 1977), These rules were based on discussions held at the meeting and on previously accepted conventions for the Mu prophage (Howe and Bade, 1975), for bacterial plasmids (Novick et al., 1976), for bacteriophage A (Hershey, 197 1), and for bacterial genetics (Demerec et al., 1966). This article is a revised version of the original report (Campbell et al., 1977)

Guidelines for the nomenclature of genetic elements in tunicate genomes.
Tunicates are invertebrate members of the chordate phylum, and are considered to be the sister group of vertebrates. Tunicates are composed of ascidians, thaliaceans, and appendicularians. With the advent of inexpensive high-throughput sequencing, the number of sequenced tunicate genomes is expected to rise sharply within the coming years. To facilitate comparative genomics within the tunicates...
متن کاملTransposons and their application in plant pathology
Prokaryote, viruses, and eukaryotes chromosomes contain fragments of DNA can move and migrate to other parts of the chromosome calling as Transposition and play an important role in new combinations of gene production. DNA fragments carrier the genes or transposons are the transposable elements that may called gene mutant also. Transposons can move to another position of the same chromosome or ...
متن کاملISbrowser: an extension of ISfinder for visualizing insertion sequences in prokaryotic genomes
Insertion sequences (ISs) are among the smallest and simplest autonomous transposable elements. ISfinder (http://www-is.biotoul.fr/) is a dedicated IS database which assigns names to individual ISs to maintain a coherent nomenclature, an IS repository including >3000 individual ISs from both bacteria and archaea and provides a basis for IS classification. Each IS is indexed in ISfinder with var...
متن کاملMining Biological Repetitive Sequences Using Support Vector Machines and Fuzzy SVM
Structural repetitive subsequences are most important portion of biological sequences, which play crucial roles on corresponding sequence’s fold and functionality. Biggest class of the repetitive subsequences is “Transposable Elements” which has its own sub-classes upon contexts’ structures. Many researches have been performed to criticality determine the structure and function of repetitiv...
متن کاملTransposable elements and the evolution of eukaryotic complexity.
Eukaryotic transposable elements are ubiquitous and widespread mobile genetic entities. These elements often make up a substantial fraction of the host genomes in which they reside. For example, approximately 1/2 of the human genome was recently shown to consist of transposable element sequences. There is a growing body of evidence that demonstrates that transposable elements have been major pl...
